High volume of 6-digit domain auctions at 4.cn

In the past couple months, there were more auctions of NNNNNN.com's (6 digit .com domains) than NNNNN.com's (5 digit .com domains). This makes some sense, as there are more six digit domains in existence than five digit domains (1 million compared to 100,000).

However, given that only a relatively small percentage of six digit domains are registered, the high auction volume seems significant. It appears to suggest that the "good" five digit domains are harder to come by, and so there appears to be some sort of a rush for the best six digit domains while they are still available for cheap.

There were 39 auctions of these domains, with an average final auction price of $63 and a median final auction price of $30. The range was $9-$540. Here is a list of the auction results in RMB and $USD.
