Short Domain Update for Passover

Here at NNNNNDomains we like to keep track of short domain registrations, to try and figure out which type of domain is going to be the next to be bought out (and when the buyout might occur).  With the recent tumult in markets, domain registration has stalled a bit as well.  Also, given that today is Passover, it's a good time to take stock of domain past, present, and future.

The past:

4C Historical Registrations
06/18/2019 - 636,418 (average of 342 registered/day since prior check)
04/16/2019 - 614,877 (average of 91 registered/day since prior check)
12/04/2018 - 602,771 (average of 190 registered/day since prior check)
01/11/2018 - 540,794 (average of 153 registered/day since prior check)
05/01/2012 - 300,000 (average of 55 registered/day since prior check)
02/01/2008 - 215,000

5L Historical Registrations
8/9/2019: 3,156,254 registered
4/16/2018: 3,257,718 registered

6N Historical Registrations
8/9/2019: 796,854 registered
4/16/2018: 771,128 registered

The present:

There are currently 671,359 four character (4C) .com domains registered.
There are currently 3,240,940 five letter (5L) .com domains registered.
There are currently 788,333 six number (6N) .com domains registered.

The future:

Looking forward, 6N's (six number .com domains) are still the most likely to be bought out first, of the three categories noted above.  However, the total registered 6N's has fallen since the last time we checked in August of 2019.  So registrations would need to pick up, and with global markets in chaos, this might not happen for a while.  We are now targeting a buyout of the 6N's probably in 2024 or 2025.

The rate of daily registration for 4C.com domains has fallen to around 118 since the last time we checked (when it was 342).  At this rate, we may not see a buyout of the 4C's until 2032!

Finally, somewhere on this site there is a hidden picture of a broken matzah...  Find it, and you have found the afikoman.
