More developed NNNNN.com's

I've done another sample of 100 random NNNNN.com's to see how many are developed sites. The first sample showed 46 developed sites, the second sample showed, 52, and this one showed 41. I think there is now enough in the sample size to make a decent prediction about NNNNN.com development in general. With a sample of 300 out of a population of 100,000, the margin of error is down to 5.65%. So at the 95% confidence level, the percentage of NNNNN.com's that are developed sites is 46.33% (with the margin of error its 40.68%-51.98%). That means there are only about 54% of the NNNNN.com's available to be developed.

In the recent sample, the trends from the earlier ones were present. There were 30 Marchex Zip Code sites (listed as "MZC"), 7 Chinese sites, 1 mobile phone site (Aradiom), and 3 other sites, including a contemporary art site (48073). The main uses for these domains so far are as postal codes, Chinese sites, and mobile phone sites. These are all great areas for future growth, given that many valuable foreign postal codes are 5-digits, including France, Germany, Kuwait, Spain, Sweden, and Italy, and there already seems to be some interest in developing these domains. Also, internet access continues to rapidly expand in China (internet penetration is still only 16% of the Chinese population, up from 10% a year ago!), making the NNNNN.com market well positioned for that explosion of future growth as well. Finally, the mobile phone uses for NNNNN.com's, either as spelled words or as quick means of accessing a website, are just beginning to be explored.
